Connecticut Bail Bondsmen Rates

Rates charged by licensed bail bondsmen in Connecticut are set and mandated by the State of Connecticut Department of Insurance. Failure by bail bondsmen to collect these mandated rates is a violation of Connecticut General Statute 38a-825.

The mandated rates are as follows:
  • Any bail bond amount $5000 and under requires a 10% premium collection.
  • Every dollar after the first $5000 requires a 7% premium collection.
  • Example: A $5000 bail bond posting in Connecticut requires a $500 premium collection.
  • Example: A $10,000 bail bond posted in the State of Connecticut requires an $850 premium collection by law.
